the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

A few things we’re great at

Sculpture, Photography, Paintings, Pottery, Fabric, Glass, Metal, Multimedia, Stone, Textiles, and More

“…failure with clay was more complete and more spectacular than with other forms of art. You are subject to the elements… Any one of the old four – earth, air, fire, water – can betray you and melt, or burst, or shatter – months of work into dust and ashes and spitting steam. You need to be a precise scientist, and you need to know how to play with what chance will do to your lovingly constructed surfaces in the heat of the kiln.” ― A.S. Byatt, The Children’s Book

“Photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” —Elliott Erwitt

Fine Artists

“The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity.” Alberto Giacometti

Fiber Arts

“A weaver who has to direct and to interweave a great many little threads has no time to philosophize about it, rather, he is so absorbed in his work that he doesn’t think, he acts: and it’s nothing he can explain, he just feels how things should go.” (Vincent Van Gough, 1853-1890)

The Secret of Success

As an artist we are ‘creatives’ and some of the time this does not come with traits and gifts in business and accounting.  Often it is something we need to hire another person to achieve for us or we need to learn how to be great in business.  We can take incredible images or paint the finest pieces ever seen but if we can’t sell it, it will simply collect dust in the corners of our studios.  Ultimately our goal is to sell our work!

Heather Darlington, Textiles

Featured Artist

Heather’s studio is located on Pondering Rock Farm where she uses the wool from her sheep or local sheep to create unique yarns. She hand dyes or hand paints the yarn so that any item made from the yarns are truly one of a kind.

She also loves to design and carries a wide variety of knit and felted knit kits. Heather uses the wool from her seven sheep of different breeds, named Doggy, Lettie (short for Chocolette), Halo, Pic, Emma, Henny & Nenny. Their overseer is a chocolate coloured llama named Shaggy. Once shorn in the spring, some of the wool is sent to a small mill in southern Ontario to be processed into yarn for Heather to dye. With the remaining wool she sets to work with the task of washing, picking, carding and spinning it into yarn. The yarn is then hand dyed in small batches getting it ready for you and your custom creations. She is a long time member of the Trillium Handspinners & Weavers Guild.
